Default TSA thought of the day.

A friend of mine brought up a great point today. If those bottles were hazardous, why aren't they being disposed of like hazardous waste? If they're worried that they'll be combined on the plane to create a bomb, why are they combining them all in one big barrel? If you're worried that food has dangerous chemicals in it, why do you then serve itto US soldiers in the USO office?

hmmmmmmmmmmm.

It's TSA employee benefit: Free bottled water for all employees.

If people are still bringing bottled water to the checkpoint, my guess is they're homebodies who only fly once a year or less

I've seen people scratching their heads wondering why the 10 lbs of change in their pockets are setting off the freakin' metal detector so I'm not surprised that people keep trying to bring bottled water through the checkpoint.

Good question about the super concentration of stuff in one trashcan.

That wasn't the question. There are people all over this country that live under a rock. The question is - if those items ARE too dangerous to bring onto an aircraft, why are they ALL being just tossed into a bin next to the security station?

Yes, I know it's because they are too lazy to have something else done with it.

Yes, I know anything else would cost a shit-ton of money.

But, why are they being taken away at all JUST to be tossed into a bin together? How about going the route another friend suggested - offer flights that are immediate boarding flights. No one is scanned - can carry on these flights - they are priced and designed for speed at your own risk.

The hijacking and turning planes into missles was possible on 9/11 because the public was lead to believe [through past experience] that a hijacking would mean someone was simply looking for transportation and odd demands. They didn't have it in their head that no one would survive the episode. NOW, the public will fight someone off.

I STILL say let everyone carry their guns on board - what terrorist is going to take a chance that passengers in F6, G5, S9, B2, and all of first class is packing heat and aren't afraid to use it?

We should all be allowed to carry knives. No guns. Accidentally blowing a hole in the skin of an aircraft at FL350 would be very bad.

.
Having everyone packing heat would only help if a terrorist makes a mad dash for the cockpit. Which is locked anyway, so.......
