bt002rs vs bt016
I do mostly street riding, with hopefully a track day or two mixed in. Which of these two tires is going to be better for me? What kinda of mileage difference did you see between the two? The 002rs are 220 shipped, 016s are 250 shipped.

I would go with bt016 since most of your time will be on the street and they have plenty of grip for track days as well. I can't speak on the 002s or mileage. A friend of mine has about 3300 miles on his bt016 right now and his bike his bike is a R1 as well.

There is a local guy here who is incredibly fast that uses the 016s and they work for him. I was just wondering mileage wise mostly since the 002s are 30 bucks cheaper.

Well, I've run both and I really like the BT-002RS tires but I admit that I never really keep track of mileage... For me it can vary so drastically and have nothing to do with the tires themselves.... I think that the 002s are stickier personally and would be better suited to track days... In all honesty, most people won't get the peak potential out of any SS tire so it makes little difference. Plus most people time themselves at the track and look for "improvement". I think the tire that you get will affect your baseline but not your improvement and your improvement is what really matters anyway, imho.

I prefer the 002RS due to track time rivaling street time.
But I would expect less life out of them ridden on the street because they tend to be a little softer than your avg street tire. I would go with the 016 in your case, plus it's a tire that's not being discontinued at the moment. |

I think it would depend on if you do more track time or street time as to which you pick.
Since you said more street riding, then I would suggest the 016's. My hubby did 2 track days on them and they look good. He really liked them. Last edited by racedoll; 09-14-2009 at 10:30 PM.. |

I'm kinda mixed right now. I have a problem with wearing out the left side of the 003 race in medium on the street. This causes the tire to be out of balance and anything over 90 the thing vibrates like shit. I think I'm going to try the Power Ones next.

I went with the 002rs. Tires are fucking incredible. It was weird, my lines were spot on the first day I had the tires on like they were meant to be.

Exactly how I feel. Btw I spooned on the 190/55 Sun but I haven't ridden it hard yet. I'll see but I'll probably go back to the 190/50... I just really, really like it.
