Default First trackday after 5 years...

...boy it's been a while. 5 years since I've been on the "big track". Went to CMP this past Saturday. This would be on my "new to me" '06 R6. Once I get the slipper clutch working right and and the suspension/geometry dialed in I hope to be a good bit faster. Still gotta clear out some cobwebs up in my head too! LOL (Oh, that guy that blew by me was on one of those new BMW's... that thing was FAST!)

Congrats on getting back on the track.

Love my slipper clutch. Wouldn't ride without one now...I'm too used to it.

Where is CMP?

Looks good...

Wish I had a bike like that too. Looking to buy a built F4i trackbike though here in the next month though.

I can tell from that video that you have been off for a while. Corners are taken a tad too early from what I've seen in the past.

How many riders there? Didn't look like many.

Was it that obvious? LOL It's the whole 4-stroke thing that was killing me there. I've been used to a 2-stroke mini for years now. I couldn't downshift and get the bike under control well enough. Now that I know how to mod the clutch to make the slipper clutch actually WORK...I expect that to be a lot better and finally brake where I know I can. My mid corner speed was horrible, the suspension is just not working right there. However, I think I know what's wrong and expect to drop at least 3 or 4 seconds next time I go back.

There were probably about 20ish people there. It's run by the track itself and we share the day with cars. Just one motorcycle group and 3 car groups.

Troy...you should do the turn1 trackday the week before. No stupid membership fees. I plan on going the 13th with a better clutch and fixed suspension!

What I finally learned after this last Primdmore class on the track is to keep the revs near redline before downshifting for the next corner and get the downshifting down before braking. This way the engine RPM change is not that great when banging down a few gears. It also helps if the thing has been remapped because many of these engines stock are not smooth in the upper revs.
