Default I went to a dealer today...

I went with a buddy who really, really wants a 50th Anny R6. There just so happened to be one 30 minutes away that he found online. It was a '06 R6 50th Anny with 3300 miles and the asking price was $6,499, which got me thinking since I just refinanced my bike and it got appraised at $7,300 or so.

So we head down there today to check it out and possibly buy it. Before we left, my buddy called up to ask if there was any damage. He said "There's a scratch on the tank and that's it". So we roll up on it, looking for the scratch on the tank first and it was there. A big ugly, someone tried to fill it with paint and failed, scratch. Okay, but for $6,499 he could deal with. Then I started looking the rest of the bike over. Here's what I found:

1. Previously mentioned scratch
2. There was a scuff from a very low speed or garage fall
3. The can was scuffed up from said fall
4. The headlights/upper had minor scuffs on them from something
5. The rubber fender that bolts to the swingarm was gone
6. The was no FE kit or even the stock plate holder (no way to mount a plate)

Here's where it gets good.

7. Half the front brake lever was broken off, proly from the fall
8. The front wheel is not a 50th Anny wheel, it had no yellow stripes on it
9. There was NO FUCKING LEFT MIRROR

And the final blow...

10. Both, yes BOTH fork seals were leaking. WTF.

The bike only had 3300 miles on it, so that tells me the previous owner was wheelie happy. I don't even want to know what condition the engine is in.

So I start making offers for my friend.

I say 6500 OTD and you replace the fork seals.
He says he can proly do 7k OTD plus the seals

I counter with 7k OTD and you replace the seals and get a proper 50th Anny wheel on the front
He says he can't do that.

We say goodbye. Reason why it was easy to say goodbye is because we were only checking out the bike to possibly prevent us from driving 3 hours to CA to check another one out. The other one only has 900 miles on it and was garage kept, no problems at all. And the price for the one in CA was 7k. So it looks like I'll be going to CA in the next couple days, empty trailer in tow. Hopefully it'll have a sweet ass Anny in it on the way back.

No, I know more about bikes so I was kinda doing the talking for him. He was already turned off from the shit that was wrong and he was ready to leave so I threw those out there for the hell of it hoping the dealer would bite and save us a trip. The salesman was the type that didn't suggest shit and the only talking done was from me. Pretty crappy guy.

That's what I was thinking, but your recent refinancing comment made me wonder.
