Default Honeymoon Trip (For those that don't hit CF anymore)

Just got back in last night from our honeymoon in Thailand/Laos. Thought I'd share a few pics and stories.

Ahhhh life is good. Waking up to day number 1 in Koh Samui, Thailand. (Chaweng Beach) We spent the first day drinking fruity drinks on the beach, recovering from the 29 hours of traveling.

First jump into the water

We spent about 4 days on Koh Samui. This was having some drinks at a beachside bar while we're getting ready for dinner. The first 4 days of the trip was all about relaxation - the next 9 days or so we're headed out to the country for some adventure.

For the bedroom pervs.. Waking up on the 3rd day - Bindhu snapped this pic as I was stretching.

Quick snap of the happy couple wandering around the rocks.

We were out hiking in the country and found a kickass waterfall. This was just before I decided to jump in.

Off exploring with a guide, this is one of the hidden sacred places in Koh Samui. I believe these statues are a tribute to the effort to stop the war when Thailand was still Siam.

Way up high in the mountains. We're tired as hell but having a good time.

Fuck yea!

This woman (Mama Lek) was the holy grail of homemade thai food. We did a lot of eating at streetside markets which is where the best food is to be found.

Preparing my alms to give the monks in Luang Prabang, Laos. If you get out there at 6am each morning, you can give the monks their alms with the rest of the locals. Pretty cool and humbling experience.

Quick snap of us at Pond's house. (He was our guide in Luang Prabang - great guy - we couldn't pronounce his full name so we just called him pond.)

Wandering through a village a few hours outside Luang Prabang. We went on a hike out in the countryside on our way to some falls. This is a snap of Bindhu, our guide in the 8 shirt, a local, and some kids playing in the 'street'.

Getting fatter as the trip progresses :laughing

This is an extraordinary cave along the Mekong river. It's a cave filled with thousands of Buddha images, and a very sacred place. That a country that is so poverty stricken would leave these images and caves untouched is a very humbling experience.

:laughing This guy was great - he's a villager who was introducing us to his family and inviting us to share in some Lao rice whiskey with him. They don't speak much english, but love to chat.

Some village girls who loved getting their picture taken. I'd take a snap, then show it to them on the camera display.

We were lucky enough to catch some monks banging their drum for the call to afternoon prayers. The beats these two would throw down on these drums were amazing. I would have loved to give it a try, but non-monks cannot touch.

Climbing the stairs to a temple. The majority of these sites were set at the top of stairs with the 6 headed dragons winding their way up the sides.

One morning in Chiang Saen, Thailand - we spent a few hours working with the Mahout and their elephants. They trained us in the commands and how to mount, dismout and ride the elephants. It was pretty phenomenal to be riding these huge animals, and directing them on where to go. A quick kick behind both ears with the command Bi would tell the elephant to walk forward. A small kick on the opposite ear with the command Baen would tell him to turn. 'How' to stop.

This is a market in Burma (Myanmar) that we popped into for about 40 minutes. We literally spent 40 minutes in the country :laughing. These crazy bastards would try to sell you bootleg cigarettes. When that didn't work, they'd offer asian porn or viagra. YZFRob would have been in heaven. :laughing

I don't remember the exact name for these people - they are a burmese clan that are refugees from Burma, and follow the legend for wrapping their necks and knees in copper wire. The legend is that the copper was to protect the women's necks from (tiger/predator) in the olden days, and has evolved to a sacred rite. The start the wrap as early as 6 years old. I believe she is about 10.

This lady was awesome - she laughed and told us via hand motions that she was getting fat, after I showed her this picture. That's our northern thailand guide on the right. She was also selling some of her handmade and hand woven textiles.

This dude is awesome. I have no idea what his name is - we met him in a village in the mountains outside of Chiang Mai. He had taken a hornets nest, grilled it over a fire and was picking out the grubs and eating them. They taste like shit by the way. :laughing

A monk meditating in one of the most sacred temples in Bangkok. I've forgotten the exact name.

I wish I had a close up of these spiders. These suckers are easily the size of my hand. These are the types of spiders they make horror movies about.

A sunset picture of the creamatorium of the pricess. The culture is to hold the body for 100 days after death while the family mourns. They will then be creamated.

Long weiner for 32 baht anyone? :laughing

Congrats!

11/1 for us.

It was pretty funny hearing how relieved everyone there was that Obama got elected.

Congrats....but

Maybe I missed it but I can't seem to find the pics of your bride in a bikini. Every time I scroll the pictures all I see is some leftover National Geographic pics and your pasty mug.

I about saw a couple fist fights about the result on the ship. I went into the carribbean and there was definitely an air of racial tension. The little schoolchildren were taunting the white tourists about it. The main topic at dinner for the few nights afterward was if someone will try to take him out.
