When the Dodge Viper first came out they were made fun of because of the quality build of the body. People called it a kit car. Guess the new camaro is stepping in the shoes now.

So it is ugly and full of problems?
Big surprise there. Take the $40K and buy a real 69 camaro.

I'd love to get my mom's '68 SS back, but my cousin will never sell it
However, I have this nagging fear that the gubment is going to start punishing us financially for owning old cars in the near future. It's part of the "do what we say is the right thing or pay out the ass to do otherwise" mentality. Kind of like what they're doing with smoking.

But you're right, the outcome is the same... it'd still be your property, but you'd either need to wealthy or well-connected to keep it on the road.

I started with 11K and a shell and built my 69 Camaro over 5 years, so there is another option. Working PT in that 5 years I finished it. Actually, there are show quality 69's out there selling for less than $30K.
