16 million? Is that all?

I tried some less than a year ago that was around 40 million if I remember right. I took a toothpick, dipped it in the sauce, and then put it in my mouth. My lips and my mouth were on fire for 30 minutes, and I was constantly drinking water to keep cool.

A small bit of it dripped on my arm as I was putting it in my mouth, and I had a heat rash on my arm where it landed for 3 days.

Brutal stuff. I love hot sauce, but wow, that was more than I was prepared for.

It is rumored that pure capsaicin has a rating of 16 million Scoville Heat Units. The capsicum, at present, that has the highest scoville heat unit rating is the Naga Jolika capsicum which is a variety of the Capsicum frutescens. The Naga Jolika capsicum rates 855 000 Scoville units. Tabasco capsicum has a rating of 200 000 scoville heat units. The Jalapeno capsicum weighs in at 4 000 scoville heat units.

I'll have to go by that little store I tried it at and see what it actually was. It was the hottest stuff they had in the store, and they wouldn't even sell it. They would only let you *sample* it.
