Will diet increase risk of stroke? Clogged arteries sure but I didn't know it could be diet related too. Smoking and drinking are the major casues from what I know, both of which my dad does and he has lived through 2 strokes and won't stop either of those. He says he wants to die happy. And having no smokes or drinks is not living happy to him.

Absolutley, plaques can build up in the carrotid arteries and arteries in the brain just as easy as they do in the heart. And if it completley blocks off bad things will happen.

it can be a bit more involved than that but it also depends on what kind of stroke a person has.

He would have had to cut back 80% to be labled a heavy smoker. I think the only time he didn't have a cig to his lips was when he was switching to a new one or taking a drink of red bull.

Prety much. What was sad too was how his kids kept pushing him to go to a doctor because they knew he wasnt doing well.

That's sad man. He did wreck the shit out of his body though, I mean goddamn...I can't believe he made it to 53. Still, Phil seemed like a stand up guy.

Bummer - way too young to go. Gruff codger, but cool dude - R.I.P.

Another reminder of why we should never take a single day for granted and take care of ourselves!
