Shotguns are easier to aim in a hurry, have superior stopping power, and can do so with less wall penetration than a high caliber handgun.

Intimidation factor. And they're just plain fun as hell.

I'd rather my wife have a shotgun in her hands than a handgun, should she have to protect herself against an intruder(s) and I wasn't there. Her aim could be off due to emotions/being jarred out of sleep/etc. and she could still do some damage with it.

I've toured their shop... real great bunch.
They actually make parts for some of the other big name custom shops.

My roommate bought one of their more modestly priced 1911's. Early on he experienced a problem.. a broken bushing, I think?
He put in a call to the shop and they told him to bring it in (Georgetown is right up the road)
While he waited, one of the gunsmiths replaced not only the broken part, but polished the feed ramp and replaced a couple of parts he "didn't like the look of".
He then took it to their indoor range and put ~50 rds through it to make sure everything was in order.

To me, that kind of service speaks for itself. Were I in the market for a 1911, I would feel very comfortable buying an STI.

Thanks, Ed. I haven't been able to get Evil Dead: AoD quotes/scenes out of my head for the past day, now.
