Default The real story of the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit...

This is a great example of how distorted things get once they become "folklore". Its also one of my favorite things to argue with people about when they go, "....just like that bitch that sued McDonald's for spilling coffee on herself"

I saw a special that had aired on PBS about that poor woman. There's a lot of cases like that people quote from a headline standpoint.

that was the special lol.

Yeah, I like to knock people down when they pull that one up too. The injuries are one thing. The fact that there had been multiple instances before that, in which they had been warned, is another. Add to that the previous settlements and it's pretty much a non starter, from a debate standpoint.

Morgan & Morgan.

I didn't know they had gone national. I remember hearing their ads on the radio as a kid.

Basically.

It should never have been publicized as much as it was.

The case and resulting public opinion became what the media wanted it to become.

Here's my thing though...And I work in an industry that Serves Millions of Cups of Coffee a day...I dont disagree with them going after Mcdonalds...Clearly someone at that Mickey D's was not listening to the warnings about the hotter than mandated coffee...

Even at the regulated Temperture...Someone who gets there coffee black with nothing in it...If they were in the same situation...They would get burned pretty fucking badly. Not to mention, This lady was elderly...and lets face it your skin isnt as resilient at that age...Not to mention she fucking had it in between her legs.

So parts of it I agree with and Parts of it I dont.
