I can imagine it would feel good to damage the car of some asshole endangering your life....but what if the mirror bounces and nails some other driver's windsheild? Or dents the fender or hood of their car? Of if some other vehicle ends up driving over it or they try to swerve to avoid driving over it and possibly cause an accident? Just wondering out loud.
If I knock your mirror off, I'm not too worried about damaging you car. And there's shit in the road all the time like tire carcasses from 18 wheelers, 2x4s that fell out of someones pickup, nails, screws, sparkplugs. I've seem all of these. A mirror is just one more thing to add to the list of shit on the roads.

I don't have a problem with someone legitmately (sp?) passing me, but I do have a problem with someone passing me illegally and/or presenting a danger to me, like in Lucky's original post
