Default Wildfire

Wolf Creek in the mountains has had over almost 360 inches or 30 feet of snow this winter, while Denver has had less than 20 inches. It has been very dry with the humidity in the single digits. A wildfire started north of Lookout Mountain, so I rode up there. So did everyone else.

This is a view from Golden, west of the Coors Brewery.

This is at a turnout about a quarter of the way up Lookout Mountain, before the first set of switchbacks. I stopped behind the Sheriff, instead of in front.

This is a view looking north of Clear Creek. The dark area has been burned. No homes, and not many trees, but they burn with black smoke, probably from the oils in the tree. The wind was so strong it almost blew me off the bike. These are Chinook winds. They come down from the mountains and warm up. It was 72 degrees. Hopefully they can put the fire out soon.
