Having no knowledge of the book, I still enjoyed the first 2 episodes/hours of the show. Boyfriend says it's very true to the book, FWIW

You talking about the Ken Follet book? I recall that being mostly about rape and poverty in the middle ages. I'll pass.

I think that's pretty well covered up until chapter 3. That's as far as I got. I felt like I needed a note pad to keep track of who was whom....

Yeah, I started reading it on a deployment a few years ago, but I stopped when I got to the part where the elderly lady got raped in front of her husband and granddaughter then run through with a broadsword while her house burned down. Not saying that made it a shitty book, but I'll still pass.

I don't really remember it being about rape so much. And it's set in medieval times so of course there's poverty.

If you can get into it, it's a really great story and a good read. But of course it's personal opinion. I've just never heard of anyone not liking the book (until now).

I missed it because the power went out so my PVR didn't record it. Going to check it out on netflix.
