No, we are lucky to have walmart. If we didn't have a walmart, we would have these little bumfuck stores that are all like 5 miles apart that would want to rape you for every dime you have and say it's because you get quality customer service. In reality, I could careless if I see an employee of the stores I shop at, I just want my shit.

Poor/thrifty people want their .25 cents back, so they return their cart to the stall. Limits the need for hiring cart pushers. If they want to steal a the cart, they will break the plastic lock off to get their quarter back. In Germany it was a full Euro and every market is like that there even walmart.

1) The article proved that Walmart doesn't always have the best prices.
2) Walmart customers are a lower statum of society, and are more likely to annoy or disgust you with the way they behave.
3) Their checkouts suck.
4) You can't see where the different departments are, unless maybe you're 7 feet tall.
5) There's piles of shit in your way, blocking your path. I prefer wide aisles, I don't like having to wait for other people to manuever their cart around that pile of boxes.
6) Often it's disorganized, like for example they'll have a sale on HP printers, so they'll put them in 2 entirely different parts of the store. Why the hell do I want to see printers near the laundry soap?
7) If you go late at night, the stockboys & forklifts are blocking your path.
8) Even Trip, who lives in one of the states Walmart dominates, says their produce sucks.

Facts are facts, the world has spoken.
Problem is, those "facts" aren't necessarily worth anything...

1) Ok, but they do in many, many cases. In fact, every time I've comparison shopped at other places - not for the stuff that some asshole writing an article buys, but stuff I buy - I've seen at least a 10% difference in pricing.
2) Make ANY place as busy as WalMart is on a regular basis and people are going to piss you off... this is one of the most ridiculous points I've ever heard.
3) Their checkouts don't suck... there's just always 500 fucking people trying to go through them at once. Once you actually make it to the person, I find WalMart checks me out a bit faster than some of the other local options.
4) Really? Now this is reaching... and reaching FAR... I don't need a fucking map in ANY grocery story... it's frankly not that fucking big. I can make a full lap around the entire place in under 7 minutes... and guess what? After I've been there ONCE, I get it... I can go get what I need directly without having to look around forever. I guess I'm not a fucking moron and not as lazy as most.
5 & 6) There's only one time per year that I see this... Black Friday. Otherwise, the lanes are clear of everything but people.
7) The amount of reaching is beyond ridiculous at this point... When the fuck are they supposed to stock their shelves? If they closed down over night, you guys would be bitching about how they are never open!
8) Meh, their produce is easily beat by other places... unless you know what days to go. The problem with their produce is not necessarily quality (in my experience), it's quantity. They run dry on stuff a lot.

You may say I'm being defensive... and maybe I am... However, there's just as much from the offensive front as well. People have this "I'm too good for WalMart" and/or "WalMart is anti-christ" attitude that I think is just ridiculous.

You want to shop some place where you have all the lanes to yourself and pay 10% more so you can feel better than everyone, whatever... but creating ridiculous justifications as to why WalMart is so inferior is just fucking pathetic.

Whatever man, I wouldn't have written those reasons if I didn't believe in them. You're saying ANY store as busy as Walmart would be full of annoying people? Except the number of people isn't the big factor here......it's the quality of people. I know this will sound elitist, but the average low-income person doesn't behave as well as a higher-income person. Their kids typically aren't well-behaved, they dress like ass (I don't want to see thongs on a 250-lb person), and they're often loud as hell when they talk (I don't want to hear what you and your "bros" did yesterday). Again, opinions may vary, but that's my experience.

And good for you if you've memorized where each department is in your Walmart. Either your Walmart is small, or you go often enough to have it memorized. I don't feel obligated to memorize anything. I feel I should be able to stand anywhere in the store and see what kind of stuff is over on the other side. With Target, you can, because their shelves are lower.

And BTW, at the Walmarts out here, they take what would have been a nice 12-ft wide aisle, and turn it into 2 4-ft aisles with a 4-ft pile of crap in the middle. Retarded.

My experience in retail as a customer service associate says otherwise. I have been treated like shit by Rich and Poor alike. Both can be equally as obnoxious. Even the middle class is bad. Pretty much all shoppers are horrible individuals. About the only people that act like sensible human beings are people who have worked in retail and understand the stupidity of shoppers.

The weird clothes thing I don't really see that ever unless I look on the internet. You live in SF though, you can find people dressing in fucked up clothes all over your city. Stereotypes are fun.

Rich people can be obnoxious and rude, yes, but they usually aren't as loud, they usually don't start silly little fights with each other, and they usually don't try to start dumb conversations with you just to make a "friend".

And I'd rather see people wearing weird/trendy clothing than people whose ass crack is showing. See, the thing about smart people is, they only wear revealing clothing when their body is WORTH revealing.

No, but they get on their cell phones and let people know how awesome they are very loudly and what cool people they get to meet and what new clothes they just bought. Hell, I had one memorable occassion where this rich old lady discussing how her husband had a prescription viagra and she suspected him cheating on her because they never had sex anymore.

Believe me, there are equally obnoxious people in all classes. This is something that is not majority restricted to the lower class.

Yeah, I bet you would like to see people in "trendy" clothing.

I never said it was "restricted" to the lower-class. I simply said lower-class people were more LIKELY to act/dress stupid.

And WTF with the pictures you posted -- How often are you going to see a gay pride parade walk into a retail store and buy something?

BTW, as for San Francisco, it is really only 1 burrough (Castro) that is known for being mostly gay. The rest of the metro area is probably no more or less gay than any other metro area.

Yeah cuz college kids usually are poor. But go to a Walmart in a town without a college, and it's just regular poor people. Read: no eye candy.
