I like the look, and I'm sure its brilliant on the track but the car does nothing for me.

Ferrari is currently missing a (relatively) basic car. Their least expensive car is around $200k. If they came out with something closer to $100k without all the technology they would probably sell a bunch of them. They no longer have anything in the range of the 308/328, 348, or 355 anymore.
were they to do so it would ruin the brand. Ferrari's brand is built around exclusivity. Ever notice how any old dirtbag who comes into money drives a gallardo? Theres a reason . If you want a basic ferrari look at maserati or maybe alfa's 8c

Gallardo costs $200k as well.

shmike, you are right, the cars I mentioned were priced equivelantly. I still think if Ferrari came out with a very basic drivers car for $100k they would sell a hell of a lot of them without cannibalising sales from their more expensive rolling computers. They could even resurect the Dino name for branding. It could take a lot of sales from Porsche and Aston.

The Lotus Evora shits all over this Ferrari in terms of looks and value. OK, it's not as fast, but so what, it's less than half the price.

I'd rather the Evora than the 458.

And the Elise is 1/4 the price.

Neither is a Ferrari.

True.

The difference is:

The Ferrari doesn't want to be a Lotus!
