i wouldn't trade my 9 yr old ford even up for a brand new toyota truck if offered, and i sure as hell would never spend money on one again. some people love them and i'm happy for them that they feel they are reliable. my personal experience with them is that they are garbage.
I had two other toyotas with very similar results to the first.
I'll take my tried and true Fords that I feel are absolutely superior. not ONCE has a ford had any problem that I've owned that cost me more than $30 to fix. had to tow one home once, but it was a simple and dumbass me fix really.

8 years old, 147,000 miles and still going strong. It's my first Toyota (Camry) and I guess I'll have to get back to you in another 100,000 to see if there are any quality issues!

Still love my Toyota's
1982 HiLux Pickup 100K+
1984 HiLux Pickup 105K
1986 HiLux Pickup 122K
1989 HiLux Pickup 48K then totalled
1990 HiLux Extra Cab V6 12K when it was stolen after 3 months
1991 Corolla LE 100K by 1994 when g/f took it over and she is still driving it today with 250K on the clock!
1994 HiLux Pickup 150K
1998 Tacoma has 135K and still running strong.
Never had an issue on any of them.

My current 1998 Tacoma has 135K on the clock and I have only replaced the battery and the starter

Dad had a 1998 Tacoma
Mom has had two new Camry's, 1994 and still drives her 2000 w/o any issues
Sister has had two new Tercel's
Other Sis has had a 1986 HiLux Truck with 386K when she sold it and now a Previa Minivan
Brother in Law has a newer 2005 4-Runner almost 200K on the clock
Brother has a Scion XB

Sure they are having issues but it seems like they are being exploited...I still think they are a great car company. None of my other GM, For and especially Chrysler cars and trucks have ever gone this long with so little issues. And then dealing with the stealerships to get the issues fixed was another nightmare all together. I will stand by them for the long haul.

The past is the past. Looks like Toyo's are just as shitty as the rest of the cars and trucks out there now

Times like this I wish the panty bomber was succesful.

My GF has a new Toyota Rav4. First off that is one suprisingly powerful mother fucker. 2nd has there been one documented incident of a throttle sticking? I heard on the radio that there wasn't a single case (or fatality). Seems like the gov is going after the competitors since they figured out how to beat tariffs.

If you drive a Prius then you are an incredible douchebag and I hope your bakes give out and you crash into the Starbucks and destroy all the I-pads in there too.

Remember the Ford cruise control fires? I moved 3 pool tables out of 3 houses from their cruise control switch fires. I believe people even died from it. But its Ford so its cool.

This company has had it coming for a long time. They have a reputation with U.S. government agencies to find loopholes and attempt to defraud government regulations. All in the name of "saving face" and upholding the "perception of quality".

Karma is a bitch IMO.

Tell that to the EPA. It is difficult to meet emission standards today without the aid of electronic throttle control.

Dude, you live in So.Cal. Look at the fucking sky (if you can find it) and tell me emissions control isn't a necessary evil.

You're a crack up. You lift weights, eat 0 grams of whatever normal people eat, and drink a gallon of purified water everyday, but you're pissed at the EPA for trying to make the air you breath non-carcinogenic.

You're on track to be the healthiest cancer patient in history.

Congratulations!
