I lost my PS2 after 8 years when the CD drive broke. Even then it worked 70% of the time or it could be pried open.

On the other hand, I don't know anyone who hasn't had an issue with their 360.

Sure things happen to certain ones, but the ring of death seems pretty common.

I could fix both of those in under an hour...

At one point in time I had 7 Xboxes and 62 Playstation 2's... Of course I was doing repairs at the time...

I currently have an Xbox, Xbox 360, and a PS2. My Xbox is modded and runs Atari, NES, SNES, MAME (vintage arcade games), Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64 and PS1 emulators. Modding that thing was the best thing I ever did video game system-wise. Hmm... I think I might sweep the floor then complete the last mission on GTA IV after a lil' whoring...

I have a PS2 thats about 7 years old. I fired it up to play some Madden 2005 a few weeks ago. It wouldn't load. I was too lazy to see if it would load any other games. Fuck it. Who cares.

thats a falcon i posted pictures of buddy. the didnt fix shit yet. theres lots of promise that jasper and beyond might fix things but they have already fucked themselves with their rush to market strategy. never trust a software company with a completely virtual infastructure to create hardware.

Not everything is gonna be perfect.

Microsoft has been nothing but prompt in their replacements.

The last one they assigned me a dedicated team that called me daily to let me know what the status was and when my box would be back in my hands.

The last box they sent me doesn't sound the same as the last one. I think they dropped in a super reader drive and chipset.

I haven't had another problem with it.

ALL game console manufacturers lose money on the hardware. They only make money on the games. They will source hardware components as close to the absolute minimum required in order to minimize the loss in the hardware costs. They will then fix the broken parts as they come.

With the first Gen 360, the hardware was less up to the task than expected, the heat higher, and the failure rate higher. The second round produced had better components. The repair rate and associated costs negated any benefit of the cheaper components.

Madden's usually on a blue disc... those are the hardest for the laser to read... If you feel motivated, pull it apart and clean the laser (I'm sure you have killed lens cleaning shit)... that fixes 95% of them.

If you really feel motivated and that doesn't work, you can bust out the ol' multi-meter and adjust the intensity of the laser...

I have a PSP2000,a X-Box 360 and a PS3. I don't evem have the 360 hooked up anymore. Oh and I went thru 3 of them myself AND two of the stupid steering wheels. I've had zero problems with the PS3,last I knew the 360's tray would only open when it feels like it.
