We have a few of those here too. Some people cater to them, but I more or less let them know they are pieces of shit. Problem here is were a state hospital so its very hard to get canned, and theres a lot of politics.

karma did bite one of them though, they decided to come in as a patient while i was working and made them wait, they actualy went to another part of the ER and aske don eof the other docs to see them. which was fine with me, meant one less thing I had to do and I didnt have to interact with them or pretend that I cared

Fortunatley we have the kick ass registrar in the main ED so if I realy need help I go to her. But shes been getting on me since I havent made food for her in a while. Seems I need to keep my favorite people well fed to get stuff done

The secret to happy ER employees is food. It's always food, especially overnight. One of the charge nurses makes a huge vat of soup every single night that she works. One of the weekend docs brings in two dozen Dunkin Donuts and two of those boxes of their coffee. A couple times a month we have a pot luck and the philipino nurse mafia brings in all kinds of delicious food stuffs. One of the Docs cooked an assload of cookies every night she was working this past week. And you can bet we work our asses off just a little bit harder in appreciation.

I love working nights.

You guys have a phillipino nursing maffia too, thats too funny. its so true that keeping is fed is important. I had been meaning to make stuff for some of the staff but havent gotten around to it. I usualy grab some dunkin donuts for my crew in the AM provided it was a good crew.

Now if I could just get ortho here for my consults I could take a nap. It seems all of brooklyn is falling on the ice outside and breaking stuff.

I think it's a severe OSHA violation to not have a philipino nurse mafia in an ER. They're drawn into the blueprints of every hospital being built.

Damnit. I keep trying to post but it's staying pretty busy. I'm doing good to keep up with texts.

Fuck yeah man. They're some of the hardest working nurses in the ER. On top of that, they're almost always unphased by dickhead patients who try to make everyone else miserable.

Good points. I used to have my dream team with 2 of them. One was around my age but was a nurse forever. She would do walk in triage, and her partner was a younger nurse who was an LPN and just became an Rn about 2 yrs ago. Working with them was great i didnt have to do anything but see the patients. If it was busy we would kick ass and get stuff done. What was nice was they were 3 or 4 steps ahead of me with stuff so if I wanted something it was already done.

Ahhh the god old days.

BTW still no ortho after 4 and a half hrs and the resident called my attending a mother fucker, thats not going to sit very well with him, and I def want to see that when it hits the fan.
