The next time you call the FD and interrupt them while they're taking a break, you might want to use this handy checklist:

1. Is my house on fire?

2. Is my big fat head stuck in a pool drain?

End of checklist.

Spreader is considerably faster AND less destructive. Axes are only for people who lock themselves out of their houses.

the FD also had the tools, a door jamb spreader,

Then what or who gave you the idea to call them?

Thats a cool tool but I would rather not have my lock picked then to have the door jam pushed apart. Less chance for damage IMO by picking the lock. If the dead bolt gets locked it has to pushed pretty far to get past the bolt.

Even after this thread I will not call them if I'm locked out. I feel I I took enough steps to keep me from needing them.

2 of my neighbors told me

this wasn't a deadbolt, it was knob-lock? so it wasn't spread far.

yeah if it was the ft/rear door w/ deadbolts this tool woulda been a no go.

we're not gonna damage the doors or glass it is a new house, the L/S @ $125 woulda been the cheapest route.

Nope.

I have entirely too many friends that work emergency services to subject them to such a menial task.

Wait, it was a knob lock? You fucking dolt, do you realize how easy it was to get past that piddly thing?! Just borrow a hammer and knock the goddamn knob off! Then, go to Wal-Mart and get two things:

1. A Brinks knob so nobody can do the same thing to you.

2. Get them to cut you a SPARE FUCKING KEY. They'll even engrave something on it for you. I'd suggest dumbass.

Wait, you had your wife try to break in for you, and THEN you called the FD?

What the fuck were you doing all this time, making waffles?

The waffles were inside, remember?

Newfie (substitute Hillbilly if you don't know what a Newfie is) calls the fire department:

Newfie: I need help! I locked my keys inside my car and the engine is running. It's about to start raining, so I need to get in fast!

Dispatch: We can send a truck out immediately sir, but why is it such an emergency?

Newfie: Well it's a convertible and my family are locked inside. They'll drown!
