Only 2 possibilities here:

1. You have no idea what I said, since your reply has nothing to do with my post you quoted.
2. You don't get out much and you took my post personally, which is a bit overboard on the drama-meter.

Or both.

My dad was military so we didn't have the money to travel anywhere nor did we have the time. My dad was usually gone on TDY so my vacations where to my grandparents in Rural Georgia and Rural Missouri (and we drove due to cost). First time to the beach I was 11 and not again until I was 20 despite I lived in D.C. and Georgia most of my life.

When I got older I didn't have the money to travel anywhere nor the time. If I wanted the beach I went to the Georgia coast. If I wanted mountains I went to the Georgia mountains. If I wanted a big city experience I went to Atlanta.

I flew down in 1996 to Atlanta (1 way) because we were fixing to move down to Georgia. It sucked because I couldn't see shit on the way down because of clowd cover. I then took my first flight of my adult life after Christmas to Chicago to visit my GF's family. Again clowdy and I couldnt see shit. FML

This year will be far different. My GF got a job that requires a lot of travel and staying for a few weeks in various states. Every Friday I can fly up to wherever she is at and back home at her company's expence.

I loved the flying aspect of flying.

I did the mosey on over to nasa thing when I went to daytona bike week a few years ago. I flipped my mil ID and got a private escorted tour of the grounds, put me within 50 feet of the shuttle while it was moving to its launch pad, went inside that really tall building and saw a bunch of other stuff being prepared for flight, it was pretty damn cool.

Frequent flier miles, I get bumped up regualarly, plus if it is a long flight I'll plop down the $50 extra to sit first class at the check in kiosk

What airline do you fly that $50 gets you bumped to first class? All my international flights are on United, where $50 might buy you the right to walk slow through business class on the way to coach.

Yeh it's not always fun... this photo was taken at an altitude of 600 feet, notice the big box on the ramp

Now notice that box is missing, and so are some of the people are missing too?

It took me a little while before i ever actually landed in a mil plane, though I have taken off quite a bit

and just for shits and giggles, recieving my british jump wings

and the french ones

99% of my flying is domestic.

Air Tran has some great deals with their sky miles program, I think i earned 75k miles with them last year flying with them and other special offers like credit cards and shit like that.

US air isnt as good with the bennies, but their programs are much easier to earn sky miles, hel I was earning 1000 miles for every dollar spent online with their credit card at the begining of last year, I only needed 15,000 miles to be upgraded to 1st class for a flight so I bought some crap for $15 right before making my reservations and was bumped up with no problem, basically it cost me $15 to get wasted on a flight, watch a movie, and have some extra foot space.

The real problem with airmiles programs is that every airline is different, and the offers are changing constantly, plus they change your membership status on a regular basis without telling you. US air bumped me from elite to elite plus last august and the only way I found out was because i showed up at the gate and it was printed on my ticket. I then lost that status because I didnt fly anywhere between september, october and teh begining of november. Basically what it comes down to is that they take care of people that fly alot.

I love flying!
Matter of fact, in the morning I'm loading the wife and kids up and flying out of town for the weekend.
If it's more than a couple hours drive we usually fly, so much easier and less stressful than driving. My son is 11 and never has been on a road trip longer than 3.5 hours because he has "grown up" riding in our plane. His only experiences of our yearly Florida vacations from northern Indiana involve a 7 hour flight with one gas stop near Atlanta. Not the 18-20 hour car ride of hell that I grew up with.

Now commercial flying...fuck that. Too many freaks and weirdos.

I have done more flying in the last 6 months than the rest of my life. Gf has never been on a plane. I don't mind the actual flying, but I hate the security and everything. Easier to just drive

Yeah C-130 flights get old after a couple 14 hour flights with max payload so you can't wander around or lay down somewhere. Ugh!
Just got off a commercial flight from Germany to Chicago. My ass hurts. Military flys you economy.
