I enjoyed each one of those videos.

I come from New Orleans though, I prefer the almost horse sounding voices of true jazz/blues artists as opposed to canned hollywood voices.
I like the bluesy feel as well. But I don't think Beyonce sounded pop. The first thing that came to my mind was soul.

I'm a big fan of the remix. I like it when songs are redone. They are not always done well but I have heard many that were.

I don't feel an artist should try to do it exactly like the other singer before them. I think thats where some of them screw up. Like when people try to do Whitney Houston. Many fuck it up trying to copy her sound. Be yourself and give it all you got.

I love Christina's voice and like that she does it her way. Some thing she over does it but fuck it. She does it her way. What is bad is when someone can't sing and they try to do it the way Christina does it. In that case you have to jab them in the throat to put an end to it.

Honestly, its nice to hear someone with a good voice, but often their attempts to "make it their own" are what kill it.

Look at the national anthem for example...you often have artists KILLING it to try and make it something other than it is. However I have to give props to Jenn Hudson on her Super Bowl rendition, beautiful and in classic style!

If it is owned by someone else she doesn't need to ask her.

No you didn't have a huge discussion about it. It just seemed to come out of no where. So I didn't know that you were talking about that.

I read every word in this thread.

Uh huh, I think you only paid attention to bits and pieces. Start at post 68. Then you'll know what we were talking about.

PC, youre right, Etta James did do it damned well. Altho I gotta give B props, I dont much care for her typically, but in the movie version she did it well. Not so much the inauguration. And for CA, dear gawd, that was rough.
