Default Flying Solo...

No really.

My husband in a pilot in training right now and just had his first solo flight this morning!

He called me and you could hear the holy shit in his voice....it was the cutest thing ever.

I'm just proud and wanted to brag.

Oh, and I get to see him again 4 days and 7 hours!!! :nana2:

Congratualtions, that's an awesome accomplishment and you should both be proud of him. Remind him though, when he lands safely and rolls that plane into the hanger without mishap, he needs to go thank his maintenance crew. Make friends withe the mechanics, otherwise...well, when your plane breaks down, you don't get to pull over and wait for a jump, now do you?

A big congrats from a jealous guy! You know motorcycles and piloting a plane have many parallels...Constant correction/control maintenance, situational awareness, ect. It would be a natural progression from rider to pilot.

While that is probably great advice, my roll in this play is to be the proud supportive wife. This is not the advice of a proud supportive wife, so I will leave that stuff up to his instructors.

Thanks though.

Pffft.....a Cessna something I presume. He is working on his private pilot license now and I'm pretty sure they use the little Cessnas for that. Once he moves up to working on his airline stuff he'll be in a Piper Seminole I think....

I know that wasn't very informative

Awesome! Congrats to him!

I don't think I'll ever forget that first solo takeoff. I looked over at the empty seat next to me, and thought "Shit, I'm gonna have to land this thing, no matter what."

That reminds me of the line from the movie "Always" when Richard Dryfus is about to land his plane...dead stick... When asked what he needed he answers "Glider practice".

I've always wanted to learn to fly (always been the back seater). I was even able to go along with a previous boyfriend and his instructor on a checkride of some sort. That was way fun.
