I looked on their website and sure enough, you could send in your Shoei helmet and they would examine it and send it back to you with a letter letting you know whether it was safe or not.

So I type up a short letter explaining the accident and box it up and send it to them and they sent it back 3 business days later with the letter. They examined the helmet shell and EPS liner and declared it safe for continued use!

Its nice having this letter from the manufacturer. It saved me about 4-500 dollars because I was looking at either the X-11 or maybe an Aria helmet.

Thanks Shoei!

yep, shoei is excellent. My helmet didn't come with the nose guard and book and they sent me a bunch of shit with those two items for free.

My insurance replaces the helmet. I'd rather not risk it. Even if it wasn't free, I'd still pay for a new helmet. $500 is cheap when it comes to my head.

Even so, it's nice to know you have a backup helmet that is fully qualified.

I thought about sending mine in, but from the looks of it, it's toast. Besides, the paint is chipping and it's just not as pretty as it used to be.

Yes a backup is good to have. Had I known this was an option I would have sent mine back, to see if it was worth selling. I just threw my old one away.

How cool is that? Mine's getting some age on it now though. I figure I will replace it next year.

Shoei and Arai have always done that. Sparx would have sent her a new lid for free. I'm with most everyone else though, I'm not going to risk it and besides, who wants to wear a fucked up looking helmet?

Arai just sends me a new one. But that's different
