Not surprising, when you consider the kinds of laws you get when rich old folks in the suburbs do most of the voting, complaining, and letter-writing.....

"Don't take your clothing off!!"
"Everyone should be like us, live a quaint suburban lifestyle where everyone is quiet, conformist, and home before 10!!"

So... we bring back the stocks for minor offenses and eliminate a lot of needless imprisonment.

Get rid of life sentences and enforce the death penalty and you'd save 2.5 million dollars.

Just to start an argument... that's easy to say when it's not your loved one up for a murder they didn't commit... What happens when they find out that he was innocent? Suggestion, the entire prosecution team gets executed if the guy turns out to be innocent later. That sounds fair.
