I think they've been shoehorned into Semis but I dont think they originally came in them. I'd say it's more of a Marine engine. Either way, there has not been a 2 Stroke Diesel in an On-Highway truck in decades.

Might make a helluva boat motor for one of those offshore race boats

It is so heavy it would probably sink the boat. That thing has to weigh well over 5,000lbs. Using 2 supercharged big block chevy engines a builder can get 3,000 horsepower without too much difficulty and the two combined would still weigh less than half of that diesel. Pairs of that diesel in unmodified form were used in a few larger yachts though.

Ya it wouldnt be great for a Race Boat. Like most Diesels, they're more known for their Torque. Although those 2-Strokes were pretty high strung.

Yea, the CATs that are in the Sea Ray I posted in the other thread are just huge torque monsters. Not much up top.

Nice!!! I have a few buds that work at Detroit Diesel. They make some INSANE motors there on their own, let alone modified like this!
