Yeh, but their lack of a cool brand name, and double the cost of the apple will doom it to obscurity. Even though, thats exactly what I want.

It is double the cost of the most basic ipad ($500). It is less than $200 more than the ipad that comes closest to it in functionality ($830). Even that top line ipad is severely lacking compared to this Lenovo. The name thing might hurt them, but I think that is more of a problem with the casual buyer. I don't think it will bother the tech savvy consumer most likely to initially purchase a device like this.

Unfortunately it doesn't have the colour scheme of a kitchen appliance though.

True, but I think that matters less for a product in this price range. The casual consumer is priced out initially. On the lower end it is significant and Apple dominates the MP3 market and does very well in the smartphone market. It also helps that the Apple products in those markets are functionally competitive and competitively priced when compared to other manufacturers. At least based off initial reviews the ipad may be lacking in at least one of those areas, if not both.

I dont know f youre being sarcastic but thats actually part of Apple's plan. Their goal is to take the computer and make it as easy and intuitive to use as an appliance. A big part of that is making it visually blend in to your home or office rather than having it stand out and scream "I am a gadget!"
