Exactly, when light is being amplified 200x, a cigaretter would be too bright..

You know, if someone manages to solve the riddle of cns nerve regeneration it wouldn't be out of the question to transplant in an eye with a tapetum lucidum. Probably decades down the road, though some quack russkie claimed to have done a cornea swap with material from cadavers. Might be the same guy who was making multi headed dogs

Honestly though, prosthetics will probably get there first. Can't wait to get mine, you know how many tits we miss out on because we can't discern the infrared spectrum?

I was about to respond to this when a late forties shrew walked by. Looked like she stopped giving a shit years ago, her sagging bags swinging pendulous beneath a thin layer of orange cotton tee. Engineer types: should you happen to read this prior to designing my new prosthetic eyes please, PLEASE, make IR mode switch operable. How bout via muscle pattern? Say a rapid look full left followed by up? Ya'll work it out.

Amj: now that I think of it you're right, not to many young gals in the c cup or above class wandering around with em loose. Still want the option tho

No kidding.
I'm all for some Gibsonesque wetware.

Yeah, I knew that much. I was commenting specifically on chemical dilation of the eye itself.
