Have some family that lives northwest of Atlanta, it seems they're a ton of jobs there as well. I've heard some bad things about the traffic there, but seems like depending on where you live and work depends on how bad it could be.. Right now my commute is 34 miles.. takes me an hour n 20 mins in the summer.. 50 mins in the winter.

My advice is to NOT move to Austin.

Notice those who suggested it do not live here.

That is all.

Traffic can be really bad in Atlanta. I don't mind Atlanta all that much though. You would have access to a lot of good riding a few hours away.

That's what I was thinking.. My uncle and grandfather both ride as well, so wouldn't be a bad deal.. Definitely worth looking into since they both have houses with tons of room for me to leech off of them while I look.

Home pricing/insurance/electricity/gas/CoL in this area sounds very similar to what was talked about in Houston, except you wouldn't have as much in insurance because of hurricanes and shit. Mine runs around 600 a year.

Taxes also seem to be a lot less than Texas.. only about 2200 for a 3500 square foot house on about an acre of land.. Sounds like a damn good deal to me.. I may even be able to telecommute w/ my current job...

Yup. We're full.

That is, unless you're cool. Then we'll tell you all about it.

I'll tell you what though. I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a hot stick than live in or around Houston.

lol, i'm getting to work late these last few days as Z is out of town, and i have to drop off son at daycare, at a reasonable hour. 7a

so i live in far outskirts of houston, 20mi , taking the toll road, bumper to bumper, 45min, while i hated it as i'm usually at work by 6 thats normally a 20-25min. commute

but it is a big city, so you have to make decisions.

as for wages, depends on what you do. i'm sure there are sites out ther that will tell you what you need to make

for my ind. we get paid very well vs the rest of the country, and the COL is low, win-win

the only other place we'd consider living is in NC, similar COL and decent jobs.

Depending where you live/work and your work schedule (what times of day will you be commuting) it could be not bad or a nightmare. Just all depends. I live in Cumming and work in Alpharetta and commuting isn't that bad - overall it's better than it was in South Florida.

Cost of living is much less here than SFL, plenty of great riding, change of seasons yet winter isn't harsh.
