Really? I've never NOT seen a child have one, at least for a few months...when my sisters were small we called the "the plug" for good reason!! If they hadnt had one, we'd have been short a few sisters in the this world...

A little more info:

We had both our children at a Womans and Babies Hospital. Births and child related care is all they do there. Lots of specialists call this place home. We were in the right place for what was about to come.

My wife is not a very big woman. An almost 10 lb baby should have been a c-section. Little dude had a 14 and 1/4" head! They told us today that she now holds 2 records at our local hospital. The longest "stuck baby", just over 4 minutes stuck on the way out (very scary) and the first 4th degree tear that they've had at that hospital. Yes, I was a mess. I held my composure but I was right on the edge of loosing it. I wasn't too far from losing them both at once.

When he was stuck (his right sholder wouldn't pass) the doc and nurses freaked and called a "code blue" throughout the hospital. We had over 20 people in the room in under 2 minutes. She had 3 up on the bed with her pushing on her belly just above her pelvic bone trying to get the baby out and the doc was pulling like crazy. All the pushing and pulling broke his clavical but it's only a crack. He'll heal up real quick. We all agree we'd rather have a cracked clavical then the alternative.

Took them over an hour to sew her back up in the OR.

Yes, I know, I need to give her flowers every day for the rest of my life! She did so well.

Our running joke about "If it's a girl, push it back in until she learns to grow a penis" didn't go over very well with the staff not in on the joke after the birth, but, I got a smile out of my wife so it was worth it!

After her surgery, an OR nurse took us over to the NICU to see our son. 2 minutes later, that nurse fell off her chair and had a seizure. Another code blue (blue for adult in trouble) was called and the NICU had over 40 people in it very quicly. 20 of those were the NICU nurses already in the wing. The other 20 or so ran in from other parts of the hospital.

We got to our recovery room and the wife had some lunch. A few hours later her stomache decided it didn't like the food and all the water after all her meds and decided to evacuate all the chicken salad rather quickly. Unlucky nurse number two came running in and went right down. They assure us her ankle is only slighly sprained! After I helped her up, she hobbled out and she avoided our room for the remainder of the day. I'm pretty sure she no longer likes us.

We had a VERY eventful birth of our second child. Lots of good stories to tell him when he gets older.

Mom is coming home tomorrow and the boy could come home as early as Friday. If he fails his blood test tomorrow, (infection) they will keep him for another week.

When he comes home, I'll post some pics.

I see a dirt bike in his future shortly! Hell, he's almost big enough to ride one already!
Holy crap what a story! Such and adventure for your little big boy to come into this world. Glad all is alright - with all incidents involved He's massive. What a good looking boy. Hugs to your wife....

And no insults intended but I don't want a 9 pounder!!!!

I wonder if I can work that into my birth plan. I should start writing that. This kid feels like a UFC fighter and I still have 4 months to go.

He looks so healthy. He already comes with a great history.
