If it rubs thru tape it will rub thru clear vinyl. It will take longer if the helmet is fixed tight so it wont swing or vibrate much but will get thru.
You have to mount it to the pillion pad with cargo net or bungees.

Stomp Grip padding, or whatever the hell its called. Mostly used on dirt bikes on high wear areas. I'm sure they make a clear that you could put on the troubled areas.
